Howdy folks! I just wanted to shout out a big ole “Thank You” to all of you that come out to this years 2008 Miss Cowpatty pageant and a big ole “I'm Sorry” for those of you who missed out on fun night. It was standing room only at the Stage Door in Tucker on Saturday, July 19th as we crowned our new queen of the trailer park.
After that the scores were tabulated I was happy to announce on Saturday evening your new Miss Cowpatty 2008 is Miss Savannah Tipton.
There as some people I would like to give a big personal “thank you:”
- To my Contestants: Savanna Tipton and Moist Towelette. You two made the night so much fun.
- To my judges: Mike Horton, Rebecca Dick, from the Altlanta Sports Allince, along with Our very own Barbara Bugg. You guys were great and made my job so easy.
- To my New Friend and a wonderful friend and supporter of the GGRA: Brian Noel, owner of the Stage Door and also one of my judges. Thank you so much for allowing us to hold the contest at the Stage Door. By the way you looked fabulous.
- To my two GGRA Board Members that came through for me as entertainers: Will Fernandez and Don Harris.
- To our man on the lights: Dwayne Tatum who ran the spot light for the show.
Once the winner was crowned the show did not stop there, as it continued with the Tuckerettes taking stage for a big ole country night of fun. I had such a wonderful time performing with them and hope to do it again real soon.
Your Friend,
MISS UMA STEPHENS

We got wet, but it was fun at Atlanta Pride 2008!

Wow, what a great Pride weekend we had here in Atlanta! We did not let the rain (or the thunder or the lightning) stop us. Instead our organization lived up to the idea that created "Gay Pride" in the first place -- standing up to adversity and showing our strength when it really counts. Thanks to all the members of the GGRA community who came out and lent a hand over the 3 days of Pride weekend – and special thanks to those who have helped before and after the actual weekend.
Thanks to the following folks for helping with Pride (listed in alphabetical order): Brad Bruner, Barbara Bugg, Will Fernandez, Mike Gooden, Don Harris, James Harris, Sam Polk, Randy Reardon, Michael Sims, Drew Smith, and Dwayne Tatum.

As we move forward, we must remember that the effort that went into Pride weekend was not even 1/100th of the effort that goes into putting on a real top-notch IGRA-sanctioned Rodeo. This event and others we do over the next year will be good mini trial-runs to really prepare us for the all-out effort that will be our October 2009 Rodeo weekend.
We need to keep working together as a team, adding new dedicated members along the way (we always welcome new people to help!), and getting used to putting on smaller events from start to finish – from early promotions and fund-raising events, through the long-haul of physical work in the middle, on to the excitement of the actual event even as we continue working it, and finally, we have to do what it takes to clean up after ourselves at the end. Once we have the clean-up behind us, we can then count the earnings and determine how much money we’ve earned for our worthy charities.
In order to get back to producing annual rodeos as well as all the events that raise enough money to sustain the rodeos, we need to have a committed group of people who are willing to put in the time and effort to do this cycle of work over and over. This is what it takes to makes us great again. If we do less, we will not be successful. All of our events are planned to get us together as a community, to stir up additional interest in our organization, to recruit new members, and to earn funds for our association – which is the key element for us to be financially able to put on a Rodeo in 2009.
